A Huge Eucalyptus Data and Knowledge Bank at your Disposal for Free Accesses
A 2005/2016 Retrospective
In this brief look back, we are bringing a consolidation of most of our efforts and writing creation in the period 2005 to 2016, giving us the opportunity to offer to you, in an organized way, our most important written texts made available in the 52 previous editions of our Eucalyptus Newsletters & 45 chapters of the Eucalyptus Online Book, published since their origins till December 2016.
Unfortunately, and mainly due to limitations on time and budget, we are not been able to have all of our technical production translated to English. Until the year 2012, most of the texts were made available in Portuguese and English. However, with the shrinkage of sponsorships and reduction on personnel, we have discontinued the English versions, keeping them just to a few articles. We are very sorry for this inconvenience, mainly in consideration to the thousands of global readers. To minimize the problem, the texts available just in Portuguese have been mentioned in these Archives with their titles in English, which allows to those, who may have interest, to download them and to get a translation by using some tool freely available in the Internet. Although not the best option, the translations made in such way may offer some understandable contents for evaluation.
The Eucalyptus Newsletters has two main functions: to bring reliable technical information about the Eucalyptus trees, forests and products and to offer valuable technical content. Ultimately, the Eucalyptus Newsletter is also oriented to offer, free-of-charge and to all interested people, the Eucalyptus Online Book, launched as a digital book about the many aspects of the Eucalyptus, totally written by Celso Foelkel.
Each one of our Eucalyptus newsletter editions is organized in sections, some of which are covered at all issues. Various others come in the format of texts, tutorials, reviews or collections, etc.
Two sections of amazing success among our readers and for which we place a lot of attention and efforts are: "The World of the Eucalyptus" and "The Friends of the Eucalyptus". They focus mainly on regions and people who are world leaders in terms of Eucalyptus. Many researchers and authors have been so far honored and their scientific and technical production shared with our readers. Similarly, several countries and Brazilian states have deserved wide coverage in relation to what they are developing in forestry and forest-based industry.
The section "Contributions from Readers" is oriented to share publications or messages received from our readers. It is very common to receive technical gifts as books, theses, lectures and articles from readers, sometimes interested in spreading these materials and contents, sometimes just telling us about their achievements. In most of the cases, they have high relevance to the forest-based sector. For this reason, we decided to create a window in our newsletters giving opportunities to Society to find information about these materials submitted or brought to us. With this section, we have expanded and diversified our technological range, opening new routes to discover more knowledge about the Eucalyptus.
At the section "Celso Foelkel’s Life Reports" I try to report major events that occurred in my professional life, and that somehow, could be of interest to our readers, even for reflections by those who are still starting their professional career and may have some references about how things happen (or are still happening) in our pulp and paper and forestry sectors. As I was very fortunate being involved in so many situations along my life, even in historical moments of the sector, I decided to use "my pen", and now the computer keyboard, to share with you these facts.
Another similar purpose section has been released in 2016, with the aim to distribute and to share the technical materials presented in some of the Celso Foelkel’s technical courses. This section has been named: "Hand-outs and Presentations - Celso Foelkel’s Technical Courses".
In 2011, we asked and received authorization from our dear friend Dr. Jorge Luiz Colodette (Federal University of Vicosa) to display in our digital publications the technical materials presented at the acknowledged event known as International Colloquium on Eucalyptus Pulp. Until late 2016, we could provide speeches and papers from six of these events, so we still have more for you in next editions.
The mini-articles written by Ester Foelkel and/or Celso Foelkel related to "Curiosities and Oddities about the Eucalyptus and the Forest-Based Sector" cover an interesting variety of titles and situations, seeking to elucidate and to clarify the general public about the many uses of Eucalyptus and products from planted forests to the benefit of the World Society.
On the other hand, our section "Technical Articles by Celso Foelkel" has had the mission to increase the knowledge and to clarify readers about conceptual or technical issues that for some reasons have different levels of understanding by people in our Society, and therefore, ultimately resulting in conflicting and misunderstanding situations.
The sections "References about Events
and Courses" - "Euca-Links" - "Technical Materials from our Partners" are very frequent. At them, we try to present interesting websites to be navigated and browsed, always containing good quality literature, lectures, teaching materials from courses, books, events, photos, charts, figures, tables, etc. Certainly, they are always well-related to the Eucalyptus. Since these sections are very variable in contents, and are not created to be oriented to a specific issue, they are not presented with links in our Archives.
